My letter to Senator Wyden about the decisions he is about to make regarding the repulsive "Trans Pacific Partnership" that would subrogate our Democracy to the benefit of corporations and their lawyers for all time.

Dear Senator Wyden:
Is our democracy parading behind the Neanderthals into oblivion?
Democracy means “The People” (demos) “Decide” (cratic). But, our laws, and those passed by recent federal government action are undermining the people at every turn. An early method was the Sedition Act, later the government took away our rights to due process with the “No Fly List,” a legal document that prohibits some from flying…even though no passenger has the right to know they’re even on the list. The Freedom of Information Act has been undermined and thwarted at every turn by government officials, rendering our government opaque to the people. And, the NSA’s authority to spy on citizens is a clear abrogation of the First Amendment rights of citizens.
Now, the Congress would have us surrender our government to corporate greed with the TPP (and other so-called “trade” agreements), written by corporate attorneys who would now have more authority than the United States government, because it would prohibit certain kinds of laws that might reduce the obscene profits of huge, international corporations in their pursuit to reduce ordinary citizens to mere serfs, serving their rich overlords.
That you would hold the Trans Pacific Partnership as a secret document that “the people” may not see, that you would keep in place the absurd principle that the international agreement would be revealed to the citizens only after a four year waiting period, that you would sell out Americans to the trade practices of despotic governments, is a travesty of the first order.
Americans deserve better government than they have, today, and your decisions to abide by these externally-imposed demands, and sacrifice American livelihoods and lives to appease foreign dictators would be one of the most egregious acts of DESTRUCTION of Democracy.
I can only hope and pray that you are smarter, and a better American citizen than that!
Sincerely,
Carol Anne Ogdin
