Good morning! Welcome to the DKos Sangha weekly open thread.
This is an open thread for members of the DKos Sangha and others who are interested in discussions concerning how we integrate our progressive political activism into our spiritual practice. If you have observations about the political discourse of the week, or about practice, or about anything else related to walking a spiritual path through the political world, if you wish to share, or if you seek support, or if you simply want to say hello, please do; this space is for you.
If you would like to write a diary for the DKos Sangha, please let me know.
If you care nothing for spiritual practice and only wish to denigrate and disparage, please do so elsewhere, and respect that this is a community diary for the DKos Sangha.

Within the peace of an open heart, when conditioning arises, it is welcomed.
When something from our past, something from our youth, something painful, buried deep within, an unresolved conflict, when that conditioning is triggered, unexpectedly brought up into the present moment in response to events happening now, there is a very visceral experience that seems to fill the body, an emotional impact that takes us by surprise by its strength and suddenness. We feel the hurt that was buried for so long.
But within the peace of an open heart, it is welcome; all of it. The hurt, the story, the pattern, the beliefs that the conditioning is wrapped up in; it is all welcome. For within the compassionate heart, this unresolved, unmet, unloved conditioning, held within for so long, can finally begin to be released, can finally begin to dissolve within the heart's compassion.
It is a rather amazing experience, so different from our experience when conditioning would arise when the heart was closed.
It is the path of awakening. It is a transformation of who we are in this lifetime, on this earth, living at this particular time in history. And it is a part of the transformation of humanity, the slow evolution towards peace on this planet.
The suffering that we experience when our hearts are closed, is the suffering that so many of our fellow human beings experience, often in private, the silent torment when we are alone, but sometimes, often, affecting those around us as well.
When we begin to see that what we experience is what others experience as well, that we all share pain, then we begin to have true compassion, for others, for ourselves.
Who we truly are is found within the compassion of an open heart and the stillness of awareness. The peace we seek, for ourselves, for the world, is found here.
Wherever you are in this moment, know that your true nature is always right here.

May all beings find peace

You are welcome to join us each week in our Monday night group meditation here at DKos Sangha. This online group meditation is hosted by Ooooh, and the diary is posted at 7:00 Eastern. So that we are able to be together for as many here at Daily Kos as wish to participate, the meditation period runs from 7:30 to 10:00 Eastern. This group sitting is open to beginners and advanced, and is not restricted to any particular traditions or practices. It is not expected that you sit for the entire period; sit for as long as you like, when you like. The idea is that we are here together; supporting each other, holding space for each other.
