Hillary got a Chipotle burrito bowl for lunch yesterday. I know this because this vital information made the goddamn New York Times. [...] You know the part in Roald Dahl’s Matilda where the young heroine is so frustrated by the abject stupidity of the world around her that she actually manifests telekinetic powers as a result? I figure 2016 campaign reporting means that I’ll be up to full-blown pyrokinesis by January, maybe some Green Lantern stuff by next Easter. I’m hoping for all-out Time Lord goodness by July 2016. That’ll be fun.

[Nicholas] Slatten, who witnesses said was the first to fire shots in the melee, was sentenced to life after being convicted last October of first-degree murder. The three other guards—Paul Slough, Evan Liberty and Dustin Heard—were each sentenced to 30 years and one day in prison for charges that included manslaughter, attempted manslaughter and using firearms while committing a felony. The incident in Baghdad's Nisoor Square strained U.S.-Iraq relations and caused an international uproar over the use of private security guards in a war zone.

Cats don't care about what you want them to do. This is what it means to be a cat. So of course a famous mountain lion who crawled under a Los Angeles home stayed put Monday, despite humans' best efforts to get him out. It wasn't until a full day later, after everybody left him alone, that the animal known as "P-22" departed.

I guess he won't be voting for Marco Rubio ... You've got to hand it to Wayne LaPierre. He says it right out loud: “I have to tell you, eight years of one demographically symbolic president is enough.” Time for a real president again, amirite? You know, a white one. With a penis. As the founders intended. (And they did!)

A study performed at the Institute for Environmental Science of the University of Koblenz-Landau evaluated for the first time comprehensive global insecticide contamination data for agricultural surface waters using the legally-accepted regulatory threshold levels (RTLs) as defined during the official pesticide authorization procedures. The results are alarming: more than 40% of the water-phase samples with a detection of an insecticide concentration, exceeded respective RTLs. [...] Overall, the results of this study indicate that insecticides pose substantial threats to the biodiversity of global agricultural surface waters and that the current regulatory risk assessment schemes and pesticide authorization procedures fail to protect the aquatic environment.
Public arguments are scheduled to begin Tuesday in the Netherlands, where nearly 900 Dutch citizens have filed a lawsuit against their government for failing to effectively cut greenhouse gas emissions and curb climate change. Hailed by Dutch press as a “landmark legal case,” it’s the first European example of a group of citizens attempting to hold a government responsible for inefficient climate policies, and the first time that existing human rights laws have been the basis of a case.
