The concept that a certain job does not deserve a living wage, is so far separated from reality, it's astonishing. You, I, the burger flippers... Everybody, is worth more than they are currently getting paid. Corporate America has you fooled!
The minimum wage has stagnated since the 60s! If the minimum wage had kept up with inflation, it would be $21 and hour!! That means that someone in the 60s making minimum wage, accounting for inflation/deflation, made more money than the average American does today. One minimum wage worker in the 60s could support a family of three.
As a matter of fact, the productivity of our nation is higher than it's been in a decade! If the minimum wage had increased with inflation and productivity, SO WOULD EVERYBODY ELSES PAY. Everyone would be better than they are now. Except for the Billionairs, you know the ones who "made" all of their money off the backs of EVERY AMERICAN. They would still be Billionairs, just minus one of those billion, maybe.
For a nation that values a university "education" so highly, it is astounding how many Americans choose to ignore those people who have achieved (paid for) said education. Let's leave the science to the scientists, and the economics to the economists.
