The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.

Herons:
We have finally given up on the Lake Chabot Herons for this nesting season. Though a park employee advised us that they were nesting, we suspect that he just saw some random roosting behavior at the previous nest site. We observed from a variety of observation points multiple times and have seen no evidence of nests or even significant occupation.
Chickadee fledges:
After a short lull in chickadee activity, we suddenly had plenty of them flitting all over and being inquisitive little busybodies. Sparkling new plumage, short tails, erratic bahavior and short tails. At least 4 fledglings. Prior recorded fledges 04-29-2013 and 05-07-2014. The 2014 batch is identified as "recently fledged",, so they may have already been a week or so old.
May 2, 2015, Chestnut Backed Chickadees fledge.
