Reason for being miffed: What? Why can't I be in a bad mood? Who made that bloody rule up? Goddammit.
Anyway, now to soothe my tattered nerves.
Mango curry.
Yeah that's right, no meat, vegan even, get over it. You'll love it.
Grab 5 ripe Mangoes, get lazy bones to peel them for you, shout at the furballs just to keep them on their guard [furballs = 2 Newfoundlands and 1 psychotic kitty].
About 3/4 of an ounce of green chillies, cut up, don't lick your fingers, oh dammit, hot, hot, hot, that pear cider looks good, that's better.
Place the mangoes [whole] in a pan, add chilies, some salt and about 1/2 a pint of water cook gently for about 10 minutes.
Curiously ended up in singed kitty, no worries then
Now [do this whilst the mangoes are poaching] you will need 6 ounces of grated coconut, 4 chopped shallots [no I am not weeping] 1 green chili chopped, 1/2 a teaspoon of tumeric powder, 1/4 teaspoon of cumin seed, 2 teaspoons of salt [level] and about 2/3 of a pint of water.
Throw all the dry ingredients into a mortar, waggle the pestle at the bloody dogs.
Now add just over half the water and get going until you have a creamy paste add the rest of the water. Mmm pour some more pear cider into the cook, oh and add the paste mix to the mangoes, stir in gently , I SAID GENTLY!
Cook for about 5 minutes remove from heat before it boils, NO BOILING I said.
Whilst this is going on you still have work to do.
To one table spoon and a bit of oil into a frying pan, add 1 teaspoon of mustard seed [whole], one finely chopped shallot, a couple of sprigs of curry leaves, and 2 dried red chillies [broken up not powdered]. Fry until shallots turn golden.
Add this to the rest.
Serve hot. with whatever sides take your fancy, I like some sliced banana.
I feel better now.
I recommend this with a nice cold pear cider.
