This is the image that pissed me off. I see so much like it from stupid RWNJs that I usually just scroll on past but this time I took the time to leave a comment. My comment in whole was this:
Wrong Attitude. Our country is great BECAUSE of our differences. We are a melting pot of cultures from all over. That is why we have so many diverse celebrations of culture across the country. From St Patrick's Day Parades to Cinco De Mayo celebrations To Italian festivals and on and on. There are so many of us who are extremely multicultural in our heritage as the immigrants came together and mixed and intermarried. We are all the MUTTS of the world with many ethnicities in each of us. Open your arms and embrace the new comers. They will add yet another layer to our brilliant country
.
I want to go even further with this. These idiots think it is their country yet it is all of ours. There is a difference. These people think they should be the one's who control it, run it and make the laws they see fit. If that ever happens America will cease to exist as the country that was founded on equality and liberty. Yes I know the Founding Fathers had a lack of insight into true inclusion when they wrote it but we have corrected their lack of insight or at least started to correct it. We still have major issues of inequality to work on as a country. Most notably when it comes to both Minorities and women. Well I shouldn't really say minorities. See white people are quickly becoming the minority in many areas.
That is the wonderful thing about being an American. We traditionally welcome immigrants after hating them for awhile. Each in turn got their own share of abuse one after the other before becoming accepted. We still see some of that prejudice and hatred instilled into modern language like Paddy Wagon. While many different theories exist as to the start of this pejorative term most agree it was because it was because it was the wagon used to haul drunk Irish men to the local Jail. They were called Paddies and so it became the Paddy Wagon. As each new wave of immigrants came to our shores seeking freedom or opportunity they were hated by those already here. This is why so many cities have distinctive ethnic areas such as Little Italy or China Town and so on. Immigrants tend to cluster near each other for support. They go out and work during the day and come home and eat and drink and socialize with similar new citizens, celebrating the culture they left back in their old country as they slowly start to add new celebrations from other cultures. Then the next wave of immigrants sweeps upon our shores and now they are the ones who are heaping scorn on the new comers. They have become Americans. The process goes on daily across our country.
When you think of it, this country is made up of many immigrants. Native people moved up from central America and from across Asia on the land bridge up in the Bering Straights to become the first population in What we call America. These became over time our Native Americans who have been treat horribly by the following waves of settlers to the untamed shores of the new world. Each wave of immigrants has broken upon our shores and spread throughout the country. They have made their way from sea to shining sea. They loved and laughed and celebrated traditions that seemed strange to those from other areas. Over time these waves of immigrants couldn't be told from those who had been there much longer. They intermarried and their culture was integrated into ours. Here is a small little test. Ask anyone what they are and they don't say American. They answer well I'm a 1/4 Italian on my mom's side, and 1/2 Irish on My dad's and so on. We are the MUTTS of the world. We are the true melting pot. Our strength is based on being the melting pot of the world. Who are we to deny anyone the right to come as did our ancestors to this country. Sure they may look a little different and have a different culture and a different language. Don't worry, over time they will blend in. For some it takes a little longer than others. With each and every wave we get better. We get new blood and new ideas and new aspects to add to our culture. This is what makes America great. If you don't like it find some small island and set up your own form of government. Establish all those pesky things you want to establish here. When you fail miserably don't worry. America will still be here to send foreign aid to that small misguided country that thought they had all the answers. Then we will welcome you back as immigrants once again. Just don't expect a warm welcome. It's not part of our culture. At least until the next wave comes. Then you can join in the fun all over again, complaining about how immigrants mess everything up. It's a Great Country Aint It ?
