LIBERAL MEDIA MY ASS!
This morning on ABC's Good Morning America, anchor George Stephanopoulos (G-Step for short, simply because typing his name is just to damn many keystrokes) apologized to viewers for failing to disclosed $50k in donations he made to the Clinton Foundation over the course of 2013 and 2014. Revelations about the donations came out in Peter Schweizer's book "Clinton Cash". The book is supposed to be an expose of organizations who've donated to the foundation set up by former President Bill Clinton -- husband of Hillary Clinton who is running for the 2016 Presidential nomination -- but has had to recently make several "factual corrections" because of its reliance on a fake press release.
From the AP (via msn.com)...
Stephanopoulos, co-host of "Good Morning America" and host of the Sunday morning public affairs program "This Week," has reported on Peter Schweizer's book, "Clinton Cash," which traces the public involvement of organizations that have donated to the foundation set up by former President Bill Clinton, whose wife Hillary is the former secretary of state running for the 2016 presidential nomination. Stephanopoulos interviewed Schweizer on "This Week."
The news anchor said that he believed his contributions were a matter of public record.
"However, in hindsight, I should have taken the extra step of personally disclosing my donations to my employer and to the viewers on the air during the recent news stories about the foundation," he said. "I apologize."
ABC News, in a statement, agreed that Stephanopoulos was wrong not to notify his bosses and viewers but called it an honest mistake.
So, lemme get this straight. G-Step has his journalistic integrity called into question, and now has to publicly fall on his sword over donations not to a PAC, but to a charitable foundation that deals with global AIDS prevention and deforestation. Donations made almost two years before the wife of the founder decides to run for president. And this, along with the very idea that organizations and corporations (which, according to conservatives, are people too) would actually give money to charity, gets breathless media attention.
Meanwhile, the Koch Brothers, who have their hands in just about every aspect of our consumer lives, practically shovel money to whatever conservative cause and GOP candidate they deem worthy, and FOX News continues to serve as a 24/7 info-mercial for GOP candidates. All with total impunity, and nary a peep from mainstream media.
Someone want to explain to me how the mainstream media is supposed to be "liberal"?
