Last summer we had a bad thunderstorm that knocked out our electricity for several hours. After the storm ended, I was talking to my neighbor on my porch when a tiny black kitten came running up onto my porch and ran into my house. She never left. I named her Thunder Kitty.
This week, after her 4th heat I had had enough. It is bad enough when the cat is yowling Siamese style, hour after hour, day after day. However it seemed she got more aggressive with each heat and more crazed. This time she was flying from floor to the top of the bookshelves, knocking everything off. She was climbing the walls. She tore down the curtains. On top of that, my poor male cat, who is neutered was doing his best to service her and was becoming exhausted. Miss Thunder Kitty almost did not live through this. She kept getting into my grandson's room through the secret passage. He kept blocking it up and she kept getting through anyway. She would sit on his bed and yowl at him in the middle of the night. Then she would come into my bedroom and yowl at me. It was a contest to keep from strangling her.
Finally, I got her in and had her spayed. As far as I know, this is like having a hysterectomy. Now, I wonder if she is in early menopaws. Is she having hot flashes and chills and that crawly feeling in her skin? Is she having emotional ups and downs? She has become a lot more cuddly than she was. Is she in pain or is she just feeling needy?
Does she feel less feminine? Does she ask Mr. Kitty (named Fire Kitty) if her bum is too big? Will he still love her if she can't have his kittens? Fire Kitty is the one who took her virginity and they have been together since August 2014. Does she need hormones?
Anyway I just was wondering if cats go through menopaws and how it affects them. However, I am celebrating the fact she will never go into heat again. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!
