With the Boston Marathon trial completed, I have a few questions regarding the sentence:
What do Charles Manson, Richard Speck and Sirhan Sirhan have in common? They are all guilty, and they are all rotting away in jail, and have been for over 45 years.
What do David Keaton, Freddie Pitts, Wilbert Lee and 150 others have in common? They all were sentenced to death for crimes they did not commit, and they all spent an average of 11 years on death row before being released.
And, finally, a word about the death penalty as a deterrent: what do Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold and Adam Lanza have in common with an estimated 1000-1500 people every year who commit what is called "murder-suicide"? I'll leave that one for you.
