First, an introduction. My name is Jack German. I am a 28 year old Mechanical Engineering student at California State University, Sacramento.
I have been reading DailyKos for a couple years now, and I've decided it is time to join the conversation. From here forward, I will begin posting about topics I think deserve more attention, which I will now attempt to quantify.
I am obsessed with the future, and specifically the nuts and bolts requirements of continuance of civilization. We already have quite a few people here who cover environmentalism, and that is not my field anyway. My field is sustainability. In future articles I will be discussing such topics as energy, water and food production in the context of planning for the long term and from the perspective of an engineer with a focus on the macroeconomics of supplying a global population undergoing exponential growth.
I am a scientist, first and foremost. I care only for facts, and will not sugarcoat the facts or my opinions extrapolated from the facts to coddle liberal bias. That said, the overwhelming tendency of this era is that the facts are on the side of progressivism. When they aren't, believe me I will not hesitate to say so.
