I clocked out a bit early on Thursday, to go see my cousin and still get to where I needed to run an errand before the place closed.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
I was told that she finished being discharged and headed out to go home at almost exactly the time I clocked out. In hospital less than two weeks for a heart transplant!
And I can't find the paper where I wrote down her phone number that my mother gave me. Ah, well. I guess I can call my mother again for it. She won't laugh. At least, not very hard.
I thought I found it, but it's the paper where I wrote down the address of Oregon Gal's mother. Which is where Oregon Gal has told me she will be for the foreseeable future.
The exercise ball in my desk chair at home deflated under me a couple of days ago. Now I get to decide if I want to replace it or get an actual chair. For the nonce, a dining chair will do.
The OHSU Farmer's Market starts up again next Tuesday. I have been looking forward to it since it closed down last fall. I enjoy good tamales, and I will be able to have one for lunch pretty much every Tuesday till the end of September.
No. Mom didn't laugh very hard at all.
Contra dancing. Contra dancing! Contra dancing!! The last time I did this was almost 35 years ago. I got through the beginners' lesson (I did snarl at the guy who was trying to instruct me while the caller was explaining things - for the record, I DO NOT CARE if my hands aren't in the proper position [or whether or not I'm leading] when I'm trying to get through a figure I haven't done since I was in my 20s). And I lasted through the first dance. I sat out the second, hoping to be up to doing the third, but no - though what I managed gave me a solid half-hour workout. I'm going back next week. I didn't see Kit RMP - she may not have arrived by the time I left, since I didn't need a ride. I did see a couple people I've seen before, but not to know by name.
And almost as soon as I sat down at my computer once I got back home, I found the paper with my cousin's phone number on it that my mother gave me on Friday.
