Imagine what would dominate the national political conversation if overall unemployment was still hovering at 12, 15 or ever 20 percent.
Well those statistics are still a shocking reality for millions of young American ages 16-24 as shown in the chart above for Aug 2014. Their struggle to get into the labor carries grave implications for the future and security of our nation.

Their future is ours. Unless we can help more teens and young adults embark on meaningful education and career pathways and get good jobs, our nation’s prosperity and security are at risk.
2 years of free college or as bernie say free college is the best solutions that I have hear for the youth employment issue that both president Obama and Bernie Sanders have advocated in one form or another. Both men are suggesting a small transaction tax on high speed trading on wallstreet, to offset the cost of the program. Surely wallsteet would want to invest in a highly trained workforce that will be needed for our digital future ..
In my opinion, investing in the education of our young people is smart public policy. A well-educated population is not only good for the individual student It is good for the entire nation.Working college grads will buy more things and pay more taxes lowering the national debt. Additionally it will restore the American dream for them.
This isn’t even thinking about how good this will be for getting them off the streets and into a productive life. Drug and crime stats have been on a steady climb since the start of the recession for this group. You know what they say about idle hands being the devils workshop..
Even the “Boot strap” conservative can agree that we need to at least get them a new pair of ‘symbolic’ boots so they will have something to pull themselves up by. I would think that even the Republicans can get behind this idea and the bill that Bernie Sanders introduced last week.
and you can to on a individual level : support Bernie's college bill
