What Are You Working On? is for all things hand-made, home-made, and creative in a variety of mediums.
What I have been up to mostly lately is recovering from skin cancer surgery on my forehead. On the surface the skin cancer was quite small -- 1/2" X 1/3". Ultimately beneath the surface it was more like 2.5". The surgery done was a MOHS surgery which has over 85% success rate. The surgeon does an initial excision and the lab looks at it and checks for cancer cells at the edges. In my case, the initial excision showed a little more cancer at 4 o'clock and a lot more cancer between 6 and 12. Completely under the skin. Key point on this: if you have any surface growth you aren't sure of, have it checked out by your doctor.
The cancer had not been on my forehead for more than 2 - 3 months. Very little thing. When I went to see my GP about it, thinking it was likely a wart, she took one look at it, and sent me to a dermatologist. From seeing the GP to the surgery it was exactly two weeks: May 12 to May 26. Again if you have any doubts, see your doctor!
The nurse referred to the bandaging as my "unicorn horn."
Hope everyone is well!
I would love to know What are you working on?
