Rubio's making a splash among the GOP heavies.
Mother Jones
has a fun look at which Republican candidates some the GOP's biggest donors are eyeing for 2016.
Notably, of the eight mega-donors mentioned, none are lining up behind Jeb Bush. Rather, Marco Rubio appears to be making a decent run for GOP Prom King. Here's a glimpse:
Marco Rubio
•Billionaire car dealer Norman Braman is all in.
•Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle, is splitting time between Rubio and Rand Paul.
•Casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson—who spent $93 million to unseat Obama in 2012 and originally placed his bets on Newt Gingrich—has had several meetings with Rubio but isn't ready to roll the dice just yet.
Scott Walker
•The infamous Charles and David Koch, who have pledged to drop $900 million on 2016, seem to like Walker's "chances," but they will reportedly be holding "auditions" for GOP hopefuls in the summer.
Rick Santorum
•Foster Friess, who supported Santorum in 2012, is back for more. You may recall Friess as the guy who startled Andrea Mitchell with this sage advice: "You know, back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraception. The gals put it between their knees, and it wasn’t that costly."
