Received this e-mail today from Secretary of State Jason Kander's (D. MO) U.S. Senate campaign:
Ask any veteran why she or he serves and you'll almost always get an answer about defending, protecting, or preserving our democracy.
It's why I decided to join the Army after September 11th, and why generations before mine served and sacrificed in places like Lexington and Concord, Gettysburg, and Belleau Wood.
But because of the wrong-headed Citizens United ruling, the core concept at the heart of American democracy -- one person, one vote -- is in trouble. In 2014, .2% of Americans funded almost $4 billion in electoral spending. The election ahead promises to see multiples of that amount, with the Koch Brothers' pledge to spend almost $1 billion leading the way.
As a United States Senator, I'll vote for a constitutional amendment overturning Citizens United, and I hope that you'll join me in that effort.
Sign my petition calling for the passage of a constitutional amendment to overturn the disastrous Citizens United ruling.

I am working hard ... every single day.
At public events, on the doors, and the phones I am doing my best to meet voters and build the kind of relationships that will overcome an avalanche of outside spending.
But I am always hopeful that by the time I am campaigning for re-election in 2022 the balance of power will have shifted from the .2% of Americans financing elections, to the 99.8% of us who are motivated to participate in the democratic process to ensure a better future for our children and grandchildren.
But we can only do that if Citizens United is overturned. Add your name to mine supporting a constitutional amendment to reverse that decision:

Thanks for signing my petition. It's important we make our voices heard before election spending begins in earnest.
All my best,
Jason Kander
