Received this e-mail from Joe Sestak's (D. PA) U.S. Senate campaign:
Sen. Toomey says one thing in Pennsylvania, and then does another with his votes in Washington, D.C. Let's take a look.
On the left, below, we have what Sen. Toomey says in Pennsylvania, from his June 5 newsletter. On the right is what he does when he gets to Washington, D.C.
Here's a few other things Sestak has been hitting Toomey on:
Toomey Offers Amendment to Ensure Police Have Equipment...Equipment He Voted Against Three Times
Toomey Continues to Say One Thing and Then Do the Opposite
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 6, 2015
Washington, D.C. – Sen. Toomey has announced that he is offering legislation to allow the Defense Department to continue transferring “defensive equipment like riot helmets and riot shields” to local police forces. Unfortunately, Toomey seems to have forgotten that he has voted against funding for law enforcement equipment – including riot helmets, riot shields and armored vests.
Under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants (JAG) program through the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), local police forces can use grant funding to purchase various assets that range from communications equipment to vehicles to riot helmets and shields. As a Senator, Toomey voted three times against funding for the grants.
But now, as the upcoming election draws near, he is attempting to cast himself as an ally of police forces he voted to defund.
In a recent letter to the President, Toomey asked “why would we make it harder to send riot gear” to police officers. He also asks “how many police lives are we willing to sacrifice.” But with Toomey's past votes against funding for riot helmets and shields, he could ask himself the same questions.
Toomey should answer for his votes against funding for law enforcement, such as grants for rural police officers to better address domestic violence and funding for the DOJ’s task force on human trafficking.
Recent reporting has highlighted the grave danger of Toomey saying “no” to a safety investment and reversing himself when politically practical.
As the Philadelphia Inquirer reported about the tragic Amtrak crash, “The deadly derailment could have been prevented if Amtrak had installed an electronic train-control system [Positive Train Control (PTC)],” according to a National Transportation Safety Board member.
And as Politico then reported about Toomey, “Over the years, he’s written letters to regulators, complaining about the system’s high costs, sponsored legislation to delay [PTC] and testified at committee hearings that it’s a misplaced priority.” Interviewed two days after the crash, Toomey “dropped his sponsorship of legislation that would postpone the safety system rollout for several more years.”
Saying one thing and doing the opposite – that’s just what politicians do. But what’s unacceptable is the refusal to hold oneself accountable for failing to invest in programs that keep us safe – be it funding for law enforcement or transportation safety – and then hiding behind political posturing.

And he's also hitting him on this:
Sen. Toomey Votes Against Victims of Crime
Toomey Continues to Say One Thing and Then Do the Opposite
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 8, 2015
Radnor, Pa. – As Sen. Toomey gears up to discuss the Crime Victims Fund during a Senate Budget Committee hearing in Pennsylvania this morning, it’s important to note that back in D.C., he has consistently voted against programs that help victims of crime.
Pennsylvanians deserve a Senator who will stand with them each and every time – not a Senator who picks and chooses his support based on political expediency.
