Received this e-mail today from former Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto's (D. NV) U.S. Senate campaign:
Our men and women in uniform put their lives on the line to defend our freedom – but the Senate just voted to deny benefits to the families of many LGBT veterans. That’s just wrong, plain and simple, and we have to change it.
Right now, same-sex couples and their children in some states receive lesser monthly veteran’s benefits. They’re denied access to medical care at the VA. They don’t even receive the same death benefits if their loved one makes the ultimate sacrifice.
Our veterans and their families deserve so much better than this kind of blatant discrimination. Will you stand with me and sign our petition? Tell the Senate to extend equal veterans benefits to same-sex couples and their children!

I’m running for Senate because I’m committed to standing up for all families. And here in Nevada, we know discrimination against LGBT veterans is just downright wrong.
Our service members and their families put so much on the line when they answer the call to serve – we owe them nothing less than our full support.
Let’s stand together and demand that the Senate right this injustice. Sign the petition to tell the Senate to treat ALL our veterans equally!
Add your name: Tell the Senate to extend veterans benefits to same-sex couples and their children.
