Jeb Bush calls out Pope Francis on climate change
By KATIE GLUECK
“I hope I’m not going to get castigated for saying this by my priest back home, but I don’t get economic policy from my bishops or my cardinals or my pope,” Bush said. “And I’d like to see what he says as it relates to climate change and how that connects to these broader, deeper issue before I pass judgment. But I think religion ought to be about making us better as people and less about things that end up getting in the political realm.”
Bush isn't about to leave such a lucrative decision to the Pope or the overwhelming scientific consensus. He knows better. He has to adhere to GOP Free Market uber alas orthodoxy.
Bush didn't stop there. More below the fold.
Bush, in his shirtsleeves, spent considerable time talking about entitlement reform and the need to reform programs like Social Security, something he noted his brother tried, and “got totally wiped out.” But on those big-ticket issues, he said, both parties need to find common ground.
Republicans have wanted to dismantle Social Security for the last 80 years.
