There's no truth to the rumor that Devorise Dixon has a potato chip shaped like
Rand Paul. Even if we don't know what part of the bird is a McNugget, we should should worry about our cranial cholesterol levels. With Mars colonization, slow food and rock candy will have new meaning.
In the post Devorise Dixon wrote that he spoke to the manager at the KFC outlet who, he said, admitted that Dixon was served a rat — and even apologized. In his post he went on to advise people to avoid eating fast food at all.
KFC told ABC News it “has made various attempts to contact this customer, but he is refusing to talk to us directly or through an attorney. Our chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and we currently have no evidence to support this allegation.” The chain went on to say that other photos posted by Dixon “clearly" show “it’s a piece of hand-breaded white meat chicken."
Dixon took to social media, posting pictures and video of the fried tender shaped like a rat that has since gone viral.
Dixon wrote:
DON'T EAT FAST FOOD!!! I WENT TO KFC YESTERDAY AND BOUGHT A 3PIECE CHICKEN TENDER. AS I BIT INTO IT I NOTICED THAT IT WAS VERY HARD AND RUBBERY WHICH MADE ME LOOK AT IT. AS I LOOKED DOWN AT IT I NOTICED THAT IT WAS WAS IN A SHAPE OF A RAT WITH A TAIL. IT SENT DEEP CHILLS THROUGHOUT MY WHOLE BODY! I'VE BEEN FEELING WEIRD EVER SINCE. I BOUGHT THIS IN COMPTON, CA ON WILMINGTON AND 120TH. I'VE NEVER SEEN CHICKEN LIKE THIS BEFORE ITS SICK!!!
Kentucky Fried Chicken has responded on a Facebook post:
KFC indicated via Facebook that they were investigating the issue but had seen no evidence to support the claim and had been unable to reach Mr. Dixon:
KFC takes customer claims very seriously, and we are continuing to investigate this matter. Our chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and we currently have no evidence to support this claim. We are aggressively trying to reach Mr. Dixon, and we request that he return to the restaurant with the product for testing, or call us at 1-800-Call-KFC.
It is unknown if Dixon was served an actual rat or if it was a piece of chicken in the shape of a rat.
Devorise uploaded several pictures and a video of the supposed rodent on Facebook, before sealing it in a bag and putting it in the freezer.
He wrote he then went back to the store on Wednesday, June 10, and complained to the manager.
Alongside the pictures, Devorise wrote: "As I bit into it I noticed that it was very hard and rubbery which made me look at it. As I looked down at it I noticed that it was was in a shape of a rat with a tail.
"It sent deep chills throughout my whole body! I’ve been feeling weird ever since. It's time for a lawyer, be safe don't eat fast food!"
This problem has become exacerbated by the Internet, which can turn rumors and hoaxes intro virtual truths. It can also make a localized problem seem like a brandwide issue. That happened with a singular New York City Yum! Brands (NYSE: YUM ) KFC/Taco Bell location that led to a health inspector fired because, according to The New York Times, he gave it a passing grade days before videos surfaced of rats scurrying through the kitchen. In that case, the public narrative became "KFC infested with rats," not "one poorly run, franchised location infested with rats."
