Rep. Brian Babin, a Texas Republican who apparently sees a chance to make a name for himself as an Obamacare hater, is pushing a bill to make the Supreme Court justices and their staff
get their health care on the exchanges.
“As the Supreme Court continues to ignore the letter of the law, it’s important that these six individuals understand the full impact of their decisions on the American people,” he said. [...]
“By eliminating their exemption from ObamaCare, they will see firsthand what the American people are forced to live with,” he added.
Does he not realize that people with employer-provided health insurance still get employer-provided health insurance under Obamacare? The Supreme Court justices already are experiencing what many American people live with, in that sense. And while it's always a hassle to have to change insurance, the policies available on the exchanges are just ... regular insurance policies. If your employer—in this case, the federal government—is still going to be paying for your insurance, it's not some uniquely awful upheaval. It's just a petty bureaucratic hassle.
Justice Scalia should totes demand royalties, though—Babin is calling his bill the SCOTUScare Act.
