... it is painful to read.
Such is the case in the comments on the KTVB story:
Inappropriate relationship led to Ex-NNU president's resignation.
This is a follow up to my diary:
Former Northwest Nazarene University President Acknowledged Inappropriate Relationship With Student
After posting in other forums about the NNU case, I heard comments about the KTVB Facebook discussion on this topic, including:
The views being expressed in the Facebook comments section of the KTVB story are truly sickening.
Many of the comments demonstrate a great misunderstanding of the effects of sexual abuse on victims. They are so ignorant of that especially in light of their defense of D. Alexander. They really are clueless.
I commented on the article and then later deleted it. I felt nothing I said would change their minds and I didn't want my names associated with all that ignorance. Sad, really sad.
I had a few free moments this morning, so I took advantage of them to post. Even if the ignorant people on the page can't hear my voice, I know that somewhere out there is a reader, or victim, who may hear it and move forward.
Privilege is blinding.
Can anyone still believe that "rape culture" is an imagined thing?
