According to a news item in today's Dallas Voice, two counties in Texas are still not issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples. These are Hartley County (pop 6000) located in the panhandle, and Irion County (pop 1600) located in west-central Texas. The county clerk of Hartley County, Melissa Mead, is refusing to issue licenses until the 25 day period after the SCOTUS decision has passed in the unlikely event that some party asks the Supreme Court for a rehearing. Irion County clerk Molly Criner is refusing to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples as she feels that the SCOTUS decision is "lawless".
So, except for these two dead-enders, it looks like 252 of the 254 counties in Texas are complying with the law.
Oh, and for those interested, Jade Helm 15 is going on. So far, no troops have seized the state capitol.
