I got this.
Former RNC Chair Michael Steele called it out Tuesday night on MSNBC's
Hardball when he said that absolutely "no one" in the GOP is happy about the Trump effect. Except maybe Trump.
"We are seeing the opening of every newscast, every show with Donald Trump," Steele said. "Leading into this debate in two weeks' time—if this is the continual motion—the level of the frustration on that stage is going to be so high, you will cut it with a knife. And anything could happen, the explosion could be monumental."
Steele was commenting on the
latest hilarity from Trump after SC Sen. Lindsey Graham called him a "jackass" several times during a Tuesday morning interview.
"I don't care if he drops out. Stay in the race, just stop being a jackass," Graham said Tuesday on 'CBS This Morning."
Trump responded in kind later that day at a rally on Graham's home turf in South Carolina. After hurling insult upon insult at Graham—including suggesting he couldn't so much as "
get a job" in the private sector—Trump pulled out a sheet of paper with Graham's personal cell number on it and read it aloud to the crowd.
"Give it a shot," Trump said, urging the audience to call the number, which had a Washington, D.C. area code. "Your local politician, you know? He won't fix anything but at least he'll talk to you."
Graham's response?
Good idea. I won't take sides in the iPhone-Android war, but as for the Republican bloodbath that's flooding our TV screens, I say, "Go on with your bad selves." Debate day—August 6—can't get here soon enough!
