Are we really counting who has more minorities on their staff? REALLY!
It totally misses the large issue and it's the campaign equivalent of playing "Who has more black friends"
1. I expect that both campaigns hire minorities. If your staff is all white, you have a problem.
2. As a POC, I'm more interested in who is on the senior staff and who is shaping policy and issues.
I have nothing against the guy/gal who is getting coffee and making copies but if every POC staffer has this role, still a problem!
3. It isn't a numbers game. It's a influence and exposure game. Who are the candidates listening to? Who is getting face time? Which issues are deemed important by the candidates?
It's super tone deaf to sit around and count numbers. And it's annoying to me as a POC to read it.
When Obama picked Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court, he did because he appreciated the unique perspective she would bring as a Hispanic woman.
Sorry for the short diary.
