Reading Kos's diary this morning and skimming through the comments, one made by True Blue Majority caused me to go back to one of mine from 2008. Mojo Friday - Holy Sh*t - Edition.
There was nothing earth shattering in the diary, it was mostly a short commentary on the comments by the pundit class trying to call a win(in the debate) for Palin over Biden when most of the instant polls clearly showed otherwise. (It also showed I needed and still need an editor before I post).
I bring this up to point out a few things about Markos' diary. Although you may vehemently disagree with what he said and how he said it, you know he's right. And it's also true that this far out one can says with some accuracy; "Anything can happen!" But wishing and hoping doesn't change reality.
There are tons of metaphors I could use to make my point, but I'll limit my comment to just this;
DON'T BE A DICK!
And that goes for both sides.
In 1992 I signed a petition while living in Savannah, Ga to put Ross Perot on the ballot in Georgia. Did that mean I was a Perot supporter? Hardly. But I did want him on the ballot for a multitude of reasons. Mostly to shake up the national debate. And he did. And we (meaning the Democrats) got lucky. Perot didn't hurt us. And despite what Republicans now believe, he didn't really hurt them either. But Ross Perot did change the debate and some of his cautions did prove to be true. However there was never any chance in hell I would have ever voted for him. None. Zero. Zilch.
I haven't decided who I'm going to vote for in primary NEXT YEAR, it's way to fucking early to make that call for me. I love some of the things Bernie is saying. I also like some of the things O'Malley has said. I've never been a huge Hillary fan (when it has come to voting for her in a Presidential primary) but Hillary has a lot of cred out there and the GOP absolutely hates her so that's always a plus.
Support whoever you want between now and the primaries, but don't be a dick about it. That goes for all the Democratic candidates. As to the GOP, we don't have to worry about their supporters being dicks, the candidates are doing the job for them.
Go out there and do parties, call banks or whatever you want to get your guy or gal as many votes as you can possibly get them for the primaries. But when the decision has been made as to who our candidate will be in the national election, work just as hard for them or we could all wake up to a President Donald Trump or President Jeb Bush or one of those other idiots running for the GOP. Who knows? Anything could happen and it might be President Ted .... Nah, I can't even write that. Shivers....
The floor is open!
On with the games!!
Mojo Friday Guidelines
Disclaimer; Kinda like the Pirates Code, they're just guidelines, meant for fun. They aren't hard and fast rules.
1) If you comment you have to recommend all comments. (in order to receive mojo you have to give mojo. It's only good mojo manners.)
2) Everything you say may be taken as a joke (so if you ask a question, expect a silly answer)
3) You must recommend the diary (and pimp it unapologetically)
4) You don't have to comment to recommend.
5) You can't steal my idea (right, like that ain't goin' to happen. It has in numerous forms, I'm flattered!)
6) Mojo mojo mojo mojo, mojo mojo mojo.
7) TexDem (that's me) is not bound by the guidelines. Neither are you
Mojo Friday Goals
Disclaimer; These are mostly here for nostalgia, the site has changed so much and the servers have been upgraded to the point I don't think we could fuck with the site with 1000 people participating. 2007 it ain't.
A. At least 300 different commenters and 1000 comments by 1:30 PM EST and 1500 by 5:00 PM EST Friday Night that it's posted.
B. 100 recommends for each comment, at least.
C. Stay on Recommend List at least five hours (this requires some strategic planning by you guys, refer to guideline #3)
D. At least 200 diary recommends. 300 would be better, spread the word.
E. And always, fun fun fun.
F. Have at least 75% average participation rate as seen here in the Mojo Friday Postgame Show by bjedward.
G. (New) Have at least 30 kossacks over 90% participation (see here for some tips).
H. Overload the servers with recommends, not to mention dominate Top Comments Mojo list. (we do tend to mess with the site with all of our recommends at one time)(also, to dominate the Top Comments Top Mojo we need at least 50 comments with over 200 recommends, see guideline B)
I. That's enough for now. (Have a suggestion? Post it.)
