I must admit that I am sick and tired of hearing how sick and tired the American people are of the Clintons. Now as a Dkos member, I know I'm supposed to be praying at the altar of Sanders, but I'm also a former Hater on Hillary, so chill! Now. while I don't believe that the media is liberal, I do believe that the media is controlled.
Mostly it is controlled by money. Money cares mostly about money. That is why right wing operatives often talk about entitlement reform. And it often seems that reform is dog whistle for "Screw poor people." But, as Gail Collins would say, "I digress."
This post is supposed to be about Clinton Fatigue, or more precisely, the media pushing that narrative. So let's game this out (My new catchphrase), below the fold.
There is a scene in the movie "Blue Chips" where Nick Nolte tells Ed O'Neill that "If I allege that you sleep with sheep, then it has been alleged that you sleep with sheep." That is the sum total of ALL of the Clinton scandals! With the exception of his legal parsing of Monica Lewinsky's oral service, what did President Clinton do wrong?
Even Kenneth Starr wanted to wrap up his investigations of Whitewater, Travelgate, Vince Foster's "Suicide". There was no "there" there. He was on his way to Pepperdine University. The vast right wing conspiracy, and yes there is one, convinced him to stay and expand the investigation into Paula Jones and the "Bimbo Eruptions."
Some trolls may cite Bill Cosby now in regards to those Bimbo Eruptions. There is a reason why President Clinton didn't have to reason over marital infidelity. He never made it his raison d'etre! (Look it up.) Democrats don't have to resign over moral failing because we don't tell the world how morally superior we are.
There is another problem here, though. Even as the right prepares to anoint Jeb! Bush, they denounce the so-called coronation of Secretary Clinton. However, Clinton leads in the polls, and Jeb! doesn't. They also talk about how a Bush or a Clinton has been on so many National elections since 1980. A Clinton has been on exactly 2. He won both! The country was better off at the end of his tenure both times. BTW, the only reason Jeb! thinks Iraq was a mistake is that the media and his party establishment spent 4 days yelling at him to admit it!
I don't know who I'm voting for in the Democratic primary. I do agree that Secretary Clinton is misplaying Keystone XL. But she's been giving great speeches and striking the right chords on other subjects. I want #BlackLivesMatter to continue to agitate. And if Senator Sanders continues to tell Chuck Todd he's full of it, he may, at long last, lose his taste for beltway bullpucky (h/t to Rachel Maddow).
