Like many Kossacks, I've been following Bernie's campaign with great interest. I've seen the interviews, the videos at his events and the great photos of his huge rallies.
I've always been impressed when I have seen him on TV over the years and I have always considered him my favorite senator. To me, he embodies the values and the vision of a truly progressive leader.
So when he decided to campaign as a Democratic candidate, I was more than excited. At a minimum, I knew that he would have the impact of exciting the democratic wing of the democratic party. While this is certainly true, I had no idea that he would resonate with independents and moderate Republicans. Moreover, I truly feel that he's appealing to those who have never participated in the political process or have never bothered to vote.
And when I saw the email from Bernie's campaign that he was visiting Seattle on 8/8 and would be hosting a rally at Hec Edmundson Pavilion at the University Washington, I was stoked. It took about .5 seconds to decide to register to attend and witness a political revolution in the making.
If you're in Western Washington, register and bring your previously apathetic friends, family and neighbors. I think that once they hear what Dr. Bernie has to prescribe to solve the many ills of our nations, they will be excited to participate in the process and choose to vote for for maybe the very first time in their lives. And surely, it will take large masses of new voters to engage to put Bernie and other progressive candidates everywhere in place to make a positive difference for us and future generations.
