Ex-Canadian Southern Baptist Presidential candidate Ted Cruz took his hugely unpopular "Cruz Country" bus tour to
Sweet Pea's Table, a restaurant in Olive Branch, Mississippi yesterday, where an enthralled crowd of at least 50 listened intently to the same horrible cliches Cruz mouthed at last week's Republican debate. The overflow room held an additional 25, Cruz's spokesmen were quick to add, making this one of the better-attended rallies of the campaign.
"I may not be drawing 20,000 people or more wherever I go," Cruz joked with the crowd (most of whom were there for the food), a reference to Bernie Sanders. "But what I can offer the true conservatives of Mississippi is good old white supremacism disguised as 'small government,' (cheers) and racism plus SuperPAC money will beat populism every time. You all know that."
Cruz autographed a few Confederate flags before leaving to his next stop, where he is expected to draw a similarly tiny crowd of angry old white people.
