Sure, why not. If Ted Cruz can be a senator, surely the craziest man in political office
deserves the same chance.
[Maine] Gov. Paul LePage has again told a Boston radio host that he is considering a run for the U.S. Senate in 2018 against incumbent Angus King. [...]
“I am thinking about it very strongly, ” the Republican said in response to Carr’s question about a U.S. Senate run. “I think we need leadership in Washington. Yeah, I might do that.”
LePage has mused over running for the Senate before, only to later say he was joking. It also should be noted that he is completely out of his mind.
During Tuesday’s taping, LePage donned a hat bearing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s slogan, “Make America Great Again.” He also referred to himself as “Baby Donald.”
On the doing-his-actual-job end of things, LePage has in the last few months flitted between
pointless cruelty, possible
impeachable offenses, and
stunning incompetence.
But the same can be said for about fifty other conservative lawmakers, many of whom are currently running for president, so "Baby Donald" here might have just what it takes to run for national office himself. I'm sure Reince Priebus is giddy with anticipation.
