Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) loves him some Trump
Ted Cruz really, really wants those Donald Trump voters to turn to him if and when they ever turn away from Trump. Or who knows, maybe he's gunning for a VP nod. He's sucking up to Trump, is the point. The Texas senator and current Republican presidential also-ran has invited the Republican primary leader to the Capitol for a
rally against the Iran nuclear deal, sponsored by the Tea Party Patriots, Center for Security Policy, and the Zionist Organization of America. Trump appears to be on board:
Trump hinted that an event was coming earlier Thursday, telling supporters at a campaign event in South Carolina: “I think we’re going to do something next week or the week after about the Iran pact” in Washington.
“We’re going to have a tremendous crowd come out,” Trump promised.
The rally is tentatively scheduled for September 9, and is on track to feature a record-breaking amount of ego even by Capitol Hill standards. On the bright side, Democrats are very likely to have enough Senate votes in favor of the deal to be able to
prevent a veto override and are now looking for the votes to filibuster rejection of the pact at all—maybe if Cruz and Trump really do their thing, they'll sway a few more Democrats to support the deal.
