I’m relatively new to the diary process and really need some help understanding how Kos works. A few days ago, Mr. Shuan King wrote an article that included this statement: http://www.dailykos.com/...
Why Bernie's fake apology to black folk really bothers me
“Last week I praised Bernie's plan addressing systemic racism and police brutality. Now, though, I'm starting to wonder if he had anything to do with it. It seems like he has hired some black staffers who are doing a great job saying all of the right things, but that he may not actually be connected, personally, to what they are thinking and saying.
When Bernie so flippantly dismissed this apology, he not only disrespected his senior staffer, but he showed that he's not really in tune with how his staffers think and feel about how things are going for him. For me, I was just starting to open up to the idea that Bernie sincerely cared about police brutality and racial injustice, but this current mess sets me back.”
That’s his opinion, that’s his diary. He talked about how “HE” feels.
Yesterday Colorado is the Shiznit wrote this: http://www.dailykos.com/...
Hey, look! Here's a Hillary Clinton hit piece!
I am completely, 100% subjective here: I want Senator Bernie Sanders to get the Democratic nod for president. I don't like Hillary Clinton's policies, I don't like her condescending attitude, I don't trust her, I don't believe she's authentic, I think she is an absolutely terrible campaigner, and I don't believe she'd make a good president for these United States. I don't want her to be the leader of the Democratic Party, and I will fight tooth and nail for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party, too; I am sick to death of the Democratic Party being run by (and the DNC standing only for) centrist and neoliberal Democrats. I am sick to death of the old school Democratic Party Platform being dismissed out of hand and, even worse, being contradicted time and again by people I don't feel should even call themselves Democrats.
That’s his/her opinion, that’s his/her diary – let the diarist talk.
Both opinions are useful to the debate and are necessary in my opinion. However, the treatment of the two opinions on Kos has me deeply troubled.
Shaun was HRed 89 times and Colorado is the Shiznit was HRed just once. In my opinion, this is deeply disturbing because neither one of these diaries deserved a single HR. I’m honestly trying to understand why the supporters of Senator Sanders are so sensitive about any criticism of him.
As an avid supporter of Barack Obama, there hasn’t been a day (since the moment he announced) that his name wasn’t scandalized in all sorts of ways. Now, Secretary Clinton is being brutalized all day, every day on the right and left. That’s politics, it's her lot. She and those who support her must deal with it.
I’m sincerely confused as to why so many in the Kos community feel it necessary to shield Senator Sanders from the insults, criticisms and hit pieces that every other candidate receives. I don’t view him as fragile and I certainly don’t see any “wavering” in the support from his supporters. Why not argue alternative points of view instead of shutting down conversations with HRs?
Can’t we just let people talk without censoring them?
Diversity is more than color and race, it’s also about opinion and thought.
I’m confused right now.
