Jeb!'s finally hitting back at Trump in a way that theoretically
could be effective—if the GOP were a fact-based party. The new
Jeb! video unleashes a string of liberal slurs, spoken by the The Donald himself against The Donald himself.
Here's the opener:
"I lived in New York City and Manhattan all my life, so my views are a little bit different than if I lived in Iowa," Trump says in the video's opening clip, pulled from Trump's 1999 appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press."
New York! All his life?! Heavens, what is Iowa to do now??
In less than a minute and a half, we find out that Trump is "very pro-choice," he thinks taxes should be raised "substantially" on high-income earners, he believes single payer "works" in Canada and Scotland, that Hillary would "do a good job" negotiating with Iran because "she's very talented," and that The Donald identifies "more as a Democrat."
But the kicker is a clip from nearly three decades ago, in which, Trump is asked in 1988 why he's a Republican.
"I have no idea," Trump replies.
Finally, we revisit the fact that Trump's "lived in New York City and Manhattan" all his life. Gasp (again).
Let's see how much an ad like this moves the needle on the unstoppable force that is Trump. Jeb! tweeted it out Tuesday morning, writing: ".@realDonaldTrump in his own words." One thing it really does highlight is how ineffective "low energy" Jeb! is at slamming Trump in person—the ad is much more effective. That's why it will likely be part of a sustained campaign to chip away at Trump's support, especially in Iowa.
The problem is, the GOP isn't a fact-based community anymore. Oh, and let's see what Trump dishes back. Fun!
Head below the fold for this little morsel.
