Scott Adams, in his blog post, "Clown Genius"", comes to the terrifying conclusion that The Donald knows just what he is doing, and with it he will win. More below the hypnotic swirl. . .
Like many of you, I'm dismayed that The D's butt-face continues to be on every screen I walk past. I mean, isn't the joke over yet? For weeks now.
Scott Adams, creator of the comic "Dilbert," is also a trained hypnotist, and like a magician, doesn't see the illusion, but sees the trick. How I hope he's wrong:
Would Trump use his negotiation and persuasion skills in the campaign? Of course he would. And we expect him to do just that.
But where is the smoking gun of his persuasion? Where is his technique laid out for us to see.
Everywhere.
As I said in my How to Fail book, if you are not familiar with the dozens of methods of persuasion that are science-tested, there’s a good chance someone is using those techniques against you.

Adams goes on to explain using like 8 examples of really stupid stuff that Trump has done of said that somehow just make people adore him more. As I said, terrifying.
Now, don't worry that the creator of the beloved documentary comic about corporate life is a booster of Trump.
I don’t mean this post to look like support for a Trump presidency. I’m more interested in his methods. I’m not smart enough to know who would do the best job as president. There are a lot of capable people in the game.
I urge you to read some more of Scott's observations about messaging and manipulation. It is uncomfortable but useful to know how we're being used by everyone everywhere. This sets up cognitive dissonance for us, because we believe we are rational thinking beings. And we are, except for that giant raging monster of fears, needs and hatreds hiding under the bed that unfortunately is driving many of our beliefs and decisions, assuming you are human.
One more: on another blob post, Adams gives another example of weaponized messaging: Trump Engineers a Clinton Linguistic Kill Shot
It's good to know this stuff because, with the knowledge, we are somewhat innoculated. As Elizabeth Warren said in a different context, "If you are not at the table, you are on the menu."
Which begs the question: what are the ways to break the spells on yourself and others? Any shrinks and/or marketing geniuses or even hypnotists want to chime in?
I fear this is very important knowledge to have, less we slide into out-and-out fascism.
