Here are urgent actions for your organization and/or yourself to take now to influence the California Assembly California to pass historic climate legislation (SB 350, SB 32 and SB 185). The next few days will decide whether California will lead or allow the politics of corporate power and political calculation to jeopardize progress. Amendments to weaken the bills are in play.
We cannot let this critical window of time slip by without making every effort possible to pass this legislation. Please join us in our urgent actions over the next critical few days:
- Sign this op-ed letter for organizational sign on and publication ideally by Wed 9/2, for press release Thursday morning
- Promote this phone banking campaign to reach people in district offices of key assembly members.
- Promote targeted rallies in the Los Angeles area
(More below the fold)
The California Clean Climate Coalition is forming to bring together as many organizations as possible to share focus and ideas — to build strength and influence through coalition. We invite you to CCCC organizing webinars every Sunday at 8 p.m. PDT. Click Here for this Sunday
So far the CCCC coalition has:
- hosted movement leaders on our calls. Bill McKibben and Senate pro tem Kevin de León kicked off our first coalition cal.l Rev. Lennox Yearwood of the Hip Hop Caucus led our second call.
- Drafted and circulated this advocacy letter to all Assembly Members urging support of SB 32, SB 350 and SB 185.
- Drafted and circulated this petition to Gov. Jerry Brown asking him to confirm his intention to sign the legislation once passed through the assembly
The spirit of the coalition is to plug in, support or build on the efforts of each other.
So, we welcome and encourage you to join us in the actions we have begun and/or to let us know how might support your efforts. Please help strong bills pass the finish line:
