Trump is the Frankenstein monster of the Tea Party. Yes. Yes he is.
Back in June, shortly after Donald Trump announced his candidacy,
Real Time with Bill Maher covered this announcement. Joined by Republican Pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson, writer Michael Eric Dyson, conservative "journalist" Mary Katharine Ham, and filmmaker Judd Apatow, Maher opened up with possibly the best prediction of the Republican campaign for president:
Maher: We never really got into the presidential campaign last week and Donald Trump entered and I just want to [crowd groans], and we never really discussed it and I have to say, I want to ask you two [conservatives Anderson and Ham] especially because I hear all over the media he's just a joke, it's just a publicity stunt. Don't worry about it. It will go away.
It's not going away.
Let me tell you something. This is the Frankenstein monster that was created with the Tea Party. This is your worst nightmare.
Anderson and Ham are quick to toe the line that Trump will fall away and let the Beltway Republicans run their clown show with the lack of personality we have grown to expect. Anderson predicts (she's a polling
expert) Trump will fall out of the polls.
Maher: Here's the thing about Donald Trump: He never apologizes. He's never wrong, no matter what crazy thing he says. He's totally...he's the white Kayne [West]. And they are gonna love him. For a party whose base adores belligerence, this is the guy.
Anderson tries to say he isn't
liked by most Republicans and Ham tries to point to the Don's record of donating to Hillary Clinton's campaign and socially liberal stances that are "anti-gun" and "pro-choice."
Maher: It's beyond liberal or conservative. It's the ID. It's the lizard brain. This guy [Trump] told, he said 'I'm gonna make the Mexicans behave and called them motherfuckers'.
