WHY DON'T THE R’S ALLOW GUNS AT ALL THEIR TOWNHALL MEETINGS, SPEECHES, ALL THEIR POLITICAL GATHERINGS!
After all, "people kill people, not guns."
And if there are a sufficient number of armed ‘good guys’ at these places, then what is there to worry about it. Right?
The Republicans are pushing their NRA gun laws down our throats, and our children and brothers and sisters are dying, while they continue cashing the checks from the NRA afraid of it's wrath if they enact some sensible laws on guns. But at the same time, they make damn sure that they never have to confront a crowd carrying guns. Damn sure.
What is wrong with this picture? If it is not safe for them, then it is not safe for the rest of us!
So, Republicans time to 'walk the walk, not just talk the talk.' Admit gun carryiers to all your political events.. Starting right now.
But this won't be possible? What's this?
The GOP’s mind-blowing gun-control hypocrisy: Americans have the right to bear arms — except at our debates!
After each of the recent spate of mass shootings that have haunted America over the past several years, Republicans’ delusional response has remained the same: More guns would have allowed the good guys to stop the bad guys. And yet audience members will not be allowed to bring concealed weapons to tonight’sGOP debate.
....
So why is the Republican Party, which loudly espouses the safety benefits created by average folks packing heat wherever they go, holding its debates in venues that don’t allow concealed weapons? If Trump, Cruz, Bush, and their ilk think unlimited access to guns makes the general public safer, why do they take such a different stance on their own safety—even though they, unlike the average citizen, will no doubt be guarded by their own personal security detail?
.........
The gun-free security provided to Republican candidates at these events stands in stark contrast to the specter under which many other Americans live and work. The story of feminist video game critic Anita Sarkeesian is illustrative. Last year, Sarkeesian was invited to speak at Utah State University, Logan. However, with the emergence of the Gamergate movement, her outspoken criticism of racism and sexism in the video game industry made her the subject of ongoing harassment, including threats of rape and murder. A death threat against Sarkeesian was sent to the university, demanding the cancellation of the talk. “This will be the deadliest school shooting in American history, and I’m giving you a chance to stop it.”
One has to wonder why the Republicans also chose Cleveland to host their 2016 convention? You would think that they would welcome all the gun toting supporters into their halls? I wonder why not?
Cleveland is supporting sensible new gun laws. The 2012 GOP platform was also stalwart in its opposition to new restrictions on guns and ammunition. While the vast majority of Congressional Republicans opposed post-Sandy Hook proposals to enhance background checks and restore the federal ban on assault weapons, Cleveland’s mayor has joined with Mayors Against Illegal Guns to support legislation to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Mayor Jackson, the city’s chief of police, the city’s public safety director, and numerous city and county officials have pushed legislation banning gun ownership for those under age 21 and, last month Jackson proposed a package of city gun laws including a creation of a gun-offender registry, a one-gun-every-90-days purchase limit, and a prohibition on the transfer of firearms to known felons.
5 Reasons Cleveland Is A Terrible Choice To Hold The GOP’s 2016 Convention
So, don't you think it is about time that we raised a demand that the Republican's start showing by their actions just how much they love guns? By putting themselves in the line of fire?
This hypocrisy is just mind-numbing and they need to be called out for the hypocrites that they are.
How can we bring this question to the national attention? Twitter? Facebook? What else? The Republican's MUST be confronted with this question.
Please pass this on. Our very lives are at stake.
This gun insanity has to stop.
