I am at DuPage PADS center in Wheaton, IL because Wednesday is one of the Employment group days. A guy Dave is standing at the doorway, yelling into the room to talk to another guy. Dave is the guy who rides the bike around the outside of the Synagogue on Sunday nights, perpetually yelling at people.
He's the guy who told me I'm lucky to have a car, because no one will give him a ride.
It ain't all luck, Dude.
Instead of our normal Wednesday group, we worked on computers. That's because I got an email last night saying that I look like a good fit for a job, and to please take this test... you have 2 hours & can't restart it. I took the test.
The first question was something like: the Romans built 50,000 miles of roads. You have a car with 3 wheels that goes 10 miles per hour. If you include a spare and trade it off to make all of the tires roll the same distance, how far will each tire have rolled over those 50,000 miles?
Hahahahaha! I am glad I read that more than once!
Another was, assuming you can't just Google the answer, how would you estimate the number of gas stations in the US?
So, I answered all the questions with time to spare. The email said that - assuming the results are good - expect to hear from the company within 48 hours. I expect to hear.
The position is entry level, but hell... it's full time. And way closer than Buffalo Grove (where CVS is located.) [And no, I have not heard from CVS, though they said by late last week, and I phoned and emailed about it.]
I have a cold. This is my second since I joined PADS. I was taking Mucinex, but it did nothing... This morning I stopped at Walgreens and got some cough medicine (DelSym). It seems to be helping. Sleep Would help more. I am hoping to be better by next week for an interview!
That's the news from the homeless at DuPage PADS.
