North Carolina's popular democratic attorney general Roy Cooper announced he is running for Governor of North Carolina. He announced his candidacy in Rocky Mount, NC, a few miles from where he grew up.
Should Roy Cooper win the democratic nomination he would face incumbent Republican Governor Pat McCrory. Besides his accomplished career at Attorney General, Cooper will have plenty to run on since North Carolina has a conservative republican majority in both the NC house and NC senate. North Carolina didn't expand Medicaid under Obamacare and has passed a 72 hour wait period before a woman can get an abortion. These are just a couple of the measures of the right wing agenda which have been implemented by the republican majority.
