Rand Paul, proving once again, that the intellectual light that illuminates his brain is actually a
supremely dim bulb:
"People don't put up a sign that says, I'm firing you because you're gay," Paul said. "It's something that's very much disputed. So, I don't know that we need to keep adding to different classifications and say, the government needs to be involved in hiring and firing. I think society is rapidly changing, and if you are gay, there are plenty of places that will probably hire you."
At least he can tie his shoes. There is just nothing more un-American than the notion that someone can be fired for a certain characteristic or trait regardless of how well they do their job. Yes, Rand, sometimes people fire someone just because that person is LGBT and they don't like it. In most states, it's perfectly legal. And no, Rand, new opportunities don't always automatically spring up, especially for transgender workers who suffer disproportionate rates of
unemployment, underemployment, and
harassment.
It's hard to believe Rand hasn't pulled out of the race. Hasn't he disgraced himself enough already?
