Received this e-mail from former Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto's (D. NV) U.S. Senate campaign:
Sometimes I just don’t understand why Congress can’t do the right thing.
Instead of standing up for our students, Congress let the Perkins Student Loan Program expire last month, risking access to an affordable college education for half a million students.
My older sister, Cynthia, and I were the first in our family to attend college. Our parents always taught us that if you're willing to work hard and play by the rules, nothing is out of reach.
Students today deserve to have that same chance – not an expired student loan program. This couldn’t be more important: Congress should restore the Perkins Student Loan Program immediately.
Stand with me to tell Congress to RESTORE the Federal Perkins Student Loan Program TODAY!

Allowing funding to lapse like this is just plain wrong – it leaves our country's most financially vulnerable students hung out to dry. Please join me in telling Congress this cannot stand.
Thank you for adding your voice,
Catherine
