In the midcoast clean elections and bond issues for low income senior housing and transportation won, but in Portland (Cumberland County) raising the minimum wage lost. It lost decisively unless you take into account that Statewide there were 193,630 of 958,440 registered voters participating.
Statewide in the redder parts of the state there were many elections in which Democrats would have won more seats had there not been an Independent candidate reducing their vote take.
In Portland there were 18,844 voters participating and the difference across 12 precincts was 3,000 voters or 250 voters per precinct. If Democrats could get their whole base motivated to vote in off year elections all of the things that Republicans have been stubbornly opposing could get passed.
