In less than 24 hours, a PETITION to deny entry to Donald Trump for his hate speech has gained OVER 200,000 votes in a citizen petition to the UK government. This means that not only must the government respond to this petition but that the matter WILL be debated in Parliament. The UK has a policy of preventing visas for entry into Merrie Olde for those who engage in hate speech. The Prima Lingua of Donald, the only way he knows how to speak.
THE PETITION:
PetitionBlock Donald J Trump from UK entry
The signatories believe Donald J Trump should be banned from UK entry.
More details
The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech. The same principles should apply to everyone who wishes to enter the UK. If the United Kingdom is to continue applying the 'unacceptable behaviour' criteria to those who wish to enter its borders, it must be fairly applied to the rich as well as poor, and the weak as well as powerful.
The Petition also has a very interesting MAP which shows where in the UK the votes come from. No coincidence that from the start, Scotland which has had a lot of dealings with The Donald have been fast and furiously voting on this Petition.
Well the “Mother Country” is certainly leading the way, (cough, again, cough) with a very clear and unequivocal collective condemnation of the Racism and Hate Speech of One Donald Trump. If only there was a way for US to do a collective petition condemning Trump’s Hate Speech? Perhaps someone will get creative and start one, so that the PEOPLE can actually speak and show just how revolting and disgusted they are with this fouling of the national character. And say unequivocally; THIS IS NOT WHO WE ARE AS AMERICANS!
Yesterday I wrote a diary announcing that this petition had finally gone up and kept track of the results and even then it took off like wildfire:
It is now 6:27pm est: 21,482
It is now 5:10pm est: 12,787
It is now 4:14pm est and the numbers on the petition are: 7485
At 3:12pm est it was: 4596
Way to go UK!
It is unbelievable to watch the numbers on the UK/gov website, they just keep on flying up.
WHERE IS OUR PETITION????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? (there must be something that we can formulate to let the world know that the US citizens HATE THIS HATE SPEECH!)
This article has a good selection of the world’s reactions: 'Unhinged ... fascist ... worse than Voldemort': Donald Trump's Muslim comments - how the world reacted. Here are a sample of tweets etc.
And what can I say, when you have lost Bill Kristol?
What British politicians said
Prime Minister David Cameron said the comments were "divisive and unhelpful".
Donald Trump's comment that "police in London are afraid for their own their lives" because certain parts of the city have become so radicalised, provoked backlash from British politicians.
London Mayor Boris Johnson, said: Trump's "ill-informed comments are complete and utter nonsense," also saying "the only reason I wouldn't go to some parts of New York is the real risk of meeting Donald Trump".
While mayoral candidate Zac Goldsmith blasted Trump's comments saying the politician was "one of the most malignant figures in modern politics" adding his proposal to ban Muslims was "beyond a joke".
Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland's First Minister, said: "Donald Trump's comments are obnoxious and offensive, and have rightly been condemned by people across the political spectrum, in the United States and elsewhere.
"Mr Trump's views are repugnant, and they clearly do not represent the mainstream views of people across America."
Stella Creasy, Labour MP, condemned Mr Trump as a "hate preacher".
