via CNN:
Hillary Clinton confessed Thursday to something liberals have long suspected: being a moderate Democrat.
"You know, I get accused of being kind of moderate and center," Clinton told the audience at a Women for Hillary event in Ohio. "I plead guilty."
Compare that to back in July:
"I take a backseat to no one," Clinton told a New Hampshire audience in July, "When you look at my record in standing up and fighting for progressive values."
Apparently Hillary believes that tacking to the right (like here and how she did with Iran) is how to get her mojo back. Really?
Really?
A moderate isn't the answer to the GOP. That's like starting negotiations with things pre-negotiated out of the way to try to appease the GOP like Obama did in the health care debate and in many other items.
How'd that work out?
We just went further right than where we wanted to be.
If we want to achieve something resembling "the reasonable center"... we need to strike hard with a strong progressive leader.
Another concerning quote from the article:
Clinton argued at the Columbus event that being in the "center" is a positive, not a negative.
"I think sometimes it's important when you are in the elected arena -- you try to figure out, how do you bring people together to get something done instead of just standing on the opposite sides yelling at each other," Clinton said.
Again - how'd this work out for Obama? How'd pre-negotiating work out?
Yes we got health care reform. But we got the Heritage's & Mitt Romney's health care reform. We got other things done too... but the final results were way farther right from that we wanted them to be.
You start from a position of strength... not a watered down milquetoast position.
A moderate cannot swing the debate back to the left.
A moderate cedes the debate to the GOP.
F being moderate.
I want a full on, brass tacks, progressive to battle the GOP's agenda.
I want no apologies for being liberal. The country overwhelmingly support's Bernie's positions when they are poll tested. (not that he needs poll testing to decide his platform)
Give 'em Hell Bernie.
p.s. - and in the ultimate irony of ironies:
"Some people want it to be about everything other than what they would do when they are president," Clinton said. "I think it really matters that people tell you what they will do and how they intend to do it, not just in broad stokes but in details. How are you the voters supposed to make up your minds?"
Pssst... there's only one candidate on the D side that isn't letting people know what they will do... (Keystone XL, TPP).... it's you Mrs. Clinton.
