Ever wonder what college courses have been the most taken across the United States?
OK… maybe not.
But there is research on the topic and findings are reported here
The research looked at high school students who graduated in 1972, 1982, and 1992 and then followed them into college who then completed a bachelor’s degree.
The findings?
- A greater percentage of students graduating from U.S. colleges and universities took a freshman composition course than any other course
Let’s hear it for general psych! Coming from a guy with a doctorate in psych that result does not surprise me. As to the remaining results...and personal experience I never had a PE class nor an Econ class. I think I was the only person in the world who graduated with a BS, MS and eventually a Ph.D. and Postdoc that never took a form of econ. I just never got into it… though I know I probably should have.
So do any of these courses seem out of sorts to you? Do people still take PE courses in college?
