UPDATE: McCrory broke his silence, issuing the following executive order Tuesday afternoon:
North Carolina GOP Gov. Pat McCrory has gone mute on HB2, the state's sweeping anti-LGBT law, even as the state continues to bleed business over the measure. Last weekend, the governor cancelled all his public events for health reasons, reported Colin Campbell:
“Due to a continued viral infection that he has had over four weeks, the governor needed a brief infusion of fluids by doctor yesterday,” a statement from the governor’s office said. “After other tests revealed no other issues, his doctor recommended rest.”
By Monday, however, McCrory was well enough to do a "Healthy North Carolina" event, just not well enough to take any reporter questions on HB2.
That brings us to today—Tuesday—but McCory still has no public events or press conferences currently scheduled. Tick-tock …
One thing’s for sure: He has a lot less to say about HB2 now than he did two weeks ago when he dismissed the notion that it would have any adverse effect on the state's economy.
"I have not had one company say they're moving out of North Carolina," he said.
