My subject line probably requires some explanation.
I have coached both boys and girls soccer.
From my own playing days, boys wanted the #10 — that number originally was associated with the great Brazilian player simply known as Pele. Nowadays it is worn by among other Lionel Messi.
But girls did not want that number. They wanted #9, because American had a superb female soccer player named Mia Hamm who wore that number.
Hillary is the new #9.
When girls would see Mia Hamm, they would look at her adoringly, she inspired them. That applied to small girls, to pre-teens, even to kids in high school.
I have seen that same kind of look, and not just from young girls, but from females of all ages.
It is directed at Hillary Rodham Clinton.
I would think that kind of look will increase as this convention goes forward, as people learn how much she has accomplished, as the admiration towards her and inspiration from her continue to increase.
