Despite repeated proclamations to the contrary by none other than Donald Trump himself, Trump is not doing well with African Americans voters. In fact, he’s struggling to stay above the zero percent mark (where we’ve seen him in some prior state polls) in the post-convention polls that have reported crosstabs.
This is actually worse than Mitt Romney was faring, on average, in the final pre-election polls in 2012. Romney, of course, was running against a popular African-American president. In the end, exit polls showed Romney with just six percent of Black voters (better than John McCain’s four percent).
It’s possible that Trump could do worse than both Romney and McCain. Sorry, Donald, but African Americans just don’t love you.
