Actually, the last two weeks have been horrible for us.
It started when I noticed water coming up between the ceramic tiles of the kitchen floor. The water was also going through to the basement. So we had to scramble and move two shelving units of fabric away from the problem area. Our sewing area is not functioning right now, needless to say.
It took four or five days to get a plumber in. And then he made things worse before they got better. But we finally got the leaking pipes fixed — and now the water mitigation people are in.
Come Monday, there will be demolition in the kitchen. The floor and the rest of the cabinets will have to come out. At least we have insurance… This experience has really rocked my world, and not in a good way. We are not able to work until work in the basement is done and we can put things back together.
One has to look for beauty in such a situation, so we did! A bright spot in all this water-soaked misery was a little jaunt up the hill to the International Test Rose Garden here in Portland, OR last weekend. Asterkitty, who is new in town, went with us. You are invited to come on a little walk through the roses with us!
Please come in, be comfortable, and tell us about your day, your weekend plans, your menus! And if you have any favorite gardens near where you live, please share!
Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who aren’t throwing pies at one another. So bring your stories, recipes, pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links to diaries or news stories that you think this community would appreciate. (We’re not doing rox/sux here.) Or just drop by and tell us about your weather. Newcomers may notice that many who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
Recommend current diaries and share on social media for impactful viewership and activism. Your support of Kitchen Table Kibitzing friends is appreciated.
