Aji’s goal to continue work next week and to purchase the vigas for the first floor is to reach $14,000. That means (as of the writing of this diary) $2,750.
Heads up to all! Soon in upcoming diaries, we will be featuring something very special — especially if you are one who is pulled in by the power of Wings’ silverwork. :-)
******************
Hi All! Just wanted to write a short diary to update progress on Aji and Wings homebuilding. I do encourage you to follow Aji's blog, but this group also will continue to share this info through our diaries as well.
Construction of all things has fascinated me since I can remember. My mother always would recall that of the four daughters, when we were kids growing up, my oldest sister and I would trail after my Dad, watching him build things like cabinets or shelves or fix things like garage doors or lamps. Watching things being built to this day can keep my interest for hours on end. I love seeing things put together and then like a puzzle, the true form emerges. And, too, seeing things being built remind me of my dad.
As I’ve been watching the walls go up, I’m now beginning to recognize placement and direction of Aji and Wings’ home.
Just one month ago, this was the start of the build.
As you can see, the size of this home is modest. It will be large enough for Aji and Wings, small enough to heat easily during the winter months.

Then the adobe bricks were delivered.
Hard to imagine what’s to come from these bricks.

On August 4, 2016, the cornerstone was set.
Like a dream, the start of renewal, rebuilding. A home.

And yesterday, this was built:
This is called a bond beam. It is what will allow for the second story construction to be built. It lends strength to support the second floor.

Because this past week, this is why the start of putting in the bond beam could begin
The first floor walls complete. Red deck buttressed up against a new home. the two windows that are in the front corner will be where a window seat will be placed.

Todays works amounted to pouring the cement in the wooden mold for the bond beam built at the top of the first floor adobe walls.

And here they are, carefully pouring cement for the bond beam. This will take over the weekend (three days) to cure.

HOW TO HELP
- The YouCaring fundraiser allows you to donate specifically to this cause. You can also share the fundraiser via social networks by using the “Grab Our Widget” button (and other social media buttons) on that page.
- Their Amazon wishlist mostly supports the health needs of their rescue animals and themselves, if that’s more your style.
- Purchases from Wings Silverworks will help them make a living the way they’d prefer, by selling Wings’ work as an exceptionally talented NDN silversmith and photographer.
- If you prefer, donate via PayPal at Aji’s blog, or at her Tumblr blog where she posts her own writing and photography.
- Kosmail belinda ridgewood if you absolutely need to donate by mailing a paper check.
- And Tweet, share on FaceBook, tip/rec/republish on Daily Kos, randomly email your friends about it, drop it into casual conversations. This seems minor, but it is not! When you share, please link to this YouCaring page, or embed the widget!
Continued donations are important, shares with the widget via Facebook are also important!! If you are an FB user, please share the widget by capturing this and pasting it into your FB post. To post the widget info here, I had to put a space after the first < . so remove the space, copy it, and paste into your FB post please! That is how the widget works. If you share Aji’s post on this, it doesn’t complete the youcaring counting process. Thanks to all in advance on this!
